My experience has been a journey of learning to listen to my body and learning tools to calm my nervous system.
My approach is attachment based. Our attachment styles impact how we relate to the people around us and how we relate to ourselves. Many of us are conditioned from childhood to repress our feelings and emotions which can result in unpredictable emotional outbursts or health problems. If we embrace our experiences, feel them fully, and are validated by our support network, we can let go of our emotions more quickly and move toward wholeness.
My name is Kimberly Erickson. I live on a small farm in Deer River, Minnesota. I have spent most of my life not paying attention to what my body tries to tell me. I have been committed to powering through and getting things done. In 2019 after adopting two kids out of foster care, I slowly came to realize that I can't do everything. I read the book, "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel van der Kolk, which explains how we hold experiences in our body.
I have learned that the ability to calm our nervous system is a significant factor in wellness. Chronic stress takes a toll on our health by impacting our biology. I would love to share with you some of the skills I have learned to bring my system back into balance.
